KINO: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus – 35mm

About the event

After many, many, many centuries of fairytales warning about the dangers of making a deal with the devil, there are still a few who don’t understand the danger. It is in this predicament doctor Parnassus finds himself in. Parnassus and his crew travel around with a magic portal to an “Imaginarium”, a surrealist dreamworld that transforms to fit the desires of those who enter. In this dreamworld, one can either choose the road of hedonistic wish-fulfilment, or the harder, but more fulfilling path of self-realization. Parnassus’ deal with the devil entails having to convince five people to choose the path of realization, to avoid losing his daughter when she turns 16 years old. The situation seems dire for Parnassus, but everything is about to change when the crew saves a mysterious stranger who they find hanging from his neck under a bridge. The charismatic stranger is a welcome addition to the crew, but his criminal past comes back to haunt him and Parnassus.
