"We build bridges to the education of Nicaraguan youth" - IPEN UNSA Oslo is, together with Student Peace Prize, hosting a Q&A to celebrate IPEN – this years winners 🎉 This is the first of two events UNSA is hosting with Student Peace Prize and IPEN🤝 Iniciativa Puentes por los Estudiantes de Nicaragua (IPEN) is a non-profit organization based in Costa Rica fighting for the right to education and academic freedom in Nicaragua👩🎓🧑🎓 The organization emerged after the massive demonstrations that were met with violent reactions from the government in 2018 in Nicaragua. IPEN offers education for Nicaraguan students that have been affected by the political situation in the country. They also offer humanitarian and psychological help, and leadership/management training. IPENs work highlights how important education, academic freedom and democracy is, and that it is something we must work to create, protect and expand. The Student Peace Prize is an award given to the student organization that excels in the work for peace, democracy and human rights! 🌟 This Q&A session will focus on the importance of civil society in Nicaragua in light of IPEN’s activity and the overall social and political situation in Nicaragua. The program of the event is as follows: 1. Musical performance by a Latin-American band 🎷🥁 2. Introduction to IPEN 3. Q&A with IPEN and expert-panelists There will also be room for questions at the end 🙋🙋♀️ The event is open to all! We hope to see you there 💙🤍
