Welcome to our annual Ocean Week, filled with instructive and important topics! Ocean Week is dedicated to raising awareness about the critical importance of the ocean and the need for action to protect and preserve it. As part of this week, we will be hosting a series of events that provide an overview of the fragility of the ocean and the effects of climate change and engage individuals and organizations in ocean conservation efforts. 🌊 18 April: Exploring the fragile ocean and the UN Ocean Agreement + measures, Deichman Bjørvika (Lunden), 5-6 PM The first event will be a seminar that provides an overview of the fragility of the ocean, including the effects of climate change on its delicate ecosystem. The seminar will begin with an introduction to the ocean and why it it's important to our planet. This will be followed by introducing how climate change affects the ocean, including rising sea levels, ocean acidification, and the loss of biodiversity. The speakers will be Øyvind Skorge (researcher & professor) and Stian Olsen (UN Norway). 🌊 19 April: WORKSHOP with Climate Fesk at Blindern (Georg Sverdrups Hus, auditorium 2) 6-9 PM Join us for a Climate Fresk workshop! Its goal is to help individuals understand the complex issues of climate change and encourage them to take action to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future. https://climatefresk.org/ 🌊 20. April: Cleanup at Akerselva The final event of Our Ocean Week will provide participants with the opportunity to both enjoy and care for the environment. This social event will include snacks and food, as well as a cleanup activity where attendees can connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about ocean conservation. Removing garbage from lakes such as Sognsvann can be an engaging step towards achieving this goal, as waste eventually ends up in the ocean, posing a threat to marine life and ecosystems.
