If you want to live in the city centre, Pilestredet Student House has the perfect location. Oslo’s main street Karl Johan and the Palace Park are only a 5 mins walk away, so this is as central as it gets.
Many of the SiO campuses, such as the Faculty of Law and HiOA, are in walking distance and the tram takes you to Blindern in less than 10 mins. Pilestredet Student House was fully refurbished a few years ago and holds a high standard throughout.
All of Oslo underground lines stop at Nationaltheatret station, which is located close to the student house. The tram stops only a few metres from the student house and takes you to Blindern or in the opposite direction towards the city centre.
Pilestredet Student House has single rooms, studio flats and one bedroom flats, all with a high standard. The housing units are suitable for students who want to live alone and for couples that want to live together.
From the student house you are only a few mins walk away from Oslo’s main street Karl Johan and the Palace Park, Bislett or St.Hanshaugen. In other words, you will have most of Oslo's centre within walking and cycling distance.
Your bike can be parked in the bike shed at the main entrance. Remember to mark your bike with a sticker available at the SiO Customer Service Centre.
You can rent a parking spot across the street. Read more about the regulations and how to acquire a parking spot here.
All housing units in the student house have their own storage room. The storage rooms are located on the same floor that you live on and your key will give you access. All storage rooms are marked with room numbers.
The fire alarm systems in the student village are connected directly to the Agency of Fire and Rescue Services. If you cause a false alarm, you will be charged for the fire brigade’s emergency cost. Read more about fire safety here.
The student house has automatic fuses and the fuse boxes for each room are located in the corridors. You are responsible for changing the lightbulbs in your own housing unit. SiO Housing is responsible for changing lightbulbs in your kitchen and corridor if you share with more than two persons. Please contact us via My page if the lightbulbs in the common areas burn out.
