The exam period has started, so to help you make this hard period a little easier, SiO has put up some tips.

We know that the exam period is a stressing time of year for students. Therefore, Student Health Services had developed some tips against exam stress that might be smart to keep in mind:

  1. Make your exam your top priority – it won’t go away!  Try not to procrastinate. Prepare mentally for it in advance.
  2. Remember: The exam is a task to be solved, not a goal to reach.
  3. Keep motivated.  Try to find a good motto to keep your motivation up.
  4. Notice how you breathe. A relaxed body remembers better.
  5. Learn a relaxation technique.
  6. Start studying well ahead of the exam. Get an overview of your curriculum and prepare a realistic study plan.
  7. Think about what you will have to do on the day of the exam. Make your own test papers.
  8. Familiarize yourself with the exam location and the room where the exam will take place.
  9. Make time to re-charge your batteries. Put away the books and relax on the evening before the exam. Eat and sleep well before your exam day – you will need a lot of energy to do your best.
  10. When you receive your exam paper make sure you read it twice and thoroughly! Details can be easily missed if one is not concentrating. Start with the part you know the best.
  11. Take breaks. Move around and stretch.
