Room or flat?
Single students may apply for a room or a studio flat. Couples with or without children and single parents, may apply for flats. At Kringsjå Student Village, Sogn Student Village and Enerhaugen Student House the flats are primarily reserved for students with children. To see which housing units you may apply for choose the appropriate profile, either single, couple or with children.
What is the age limit for applying?
You must be at least 18 years old to live with us. The upper age limit for students living in SiO Housing is 35 years. Read more about the age limit in the Regulations Governing Allocations.
For how long may I live in a SiO student house?
If you give us your study plans we will give you a contract for one year at a time. If we do not receive your study plan we will give you a contract for 6 months at a time. The contract may be extended; the total duration of tenancy is the time it takes to complete your education or five years, whichever comes first. If a tenant can document delays in their education because of maternity leave, adoption, military service, illness etc the duration of the tenancy may be extended for a maximum of two additional years. The SiO Housing has a right to make sure that tenants are entitled to services from SiO. No one may live with the SiO Housing for more than seven years.
May I complain about a refusal?
All rejections may be appealed to the Control Committee for allocation of housing. You must always state a reason in your complaints and appeals, and if necessary certificates should be attached. You may appeal to SiO Housing’s board, which is the final appeal body.
How do I apply?
Please fill in the electronic application form, or contact us at +47 22 18 83 35. When you have filled in the form a recipte will appear on your screen stating that your application has been received. When you have been allocated a housing unit you will be notified by e-mail that an offer has been sent to you on My Page.

Is house contents insurance included?
No, you have to arrange this yourself. We highly recommend you to do so.
Application deadlines and allocation of contracts
Housing contracts are allocated on the 1st and the 16th each month. Application deadlines are two months ahead of the date you wish to move in. Nevertheless, we do try to rent out our rooms when they become available, so sometimes we may offer you something sooner.
What is the account number for SiO Housing, and what are the SWIFT and IBAN-codes?
Your rent needs to be paid to this account number: 6094 05 59823. The deposit should be paid to account no: 6094 05 61038. Please make sure the KID-number is on the invoice. If you do not use the KID-number, make sure that your name and the invoice-number is available on the giro.
If you are going to pay us from abroad you will need the SWIFT-code and the IBAN- number. You cannot use the KID-number from abroad so make sure the giro (or other means of payment) comes with the tenants name and the invoice-number. The SWIFT code is: NDEANOKK. For paying the rent: IBAN: NO7260940559823. For paying the deposit: IBAN: NO5360940561038.
When and how do I get my deposit back?
Your deposit will be returned to you within a month after you move out. Remember to leave us your name, new address and bank account number. If the account is not your own you also have to give us the name of the account holder. If you move abroad, please also give us the SWIFT- and IBAN-codes of your bank.
Why are there house rules?
To make sure that your and your neighbours’ tenancy period is an enjoyable experience, we have set up some house rules which all of our tenants must follow. You will find the house rules in the appendix to your tenancy contract.
May I transfer to another housing unit?
If you would like transfer to another housing unit you may sign up on a waiting list. You will stay in your current housing unit until the preferred one is available for you. The applications form is available on My page. Internal transfer is free of charge, however, please notice that you are required to pay rent for both housing units for a minimum of four days for flats and studio flats, and six days for apartments.
What do the different housing units look like, and where are they?
All our different housing units and student villages and houses are presented on our web pages. Chose the appropriate profile; single, couple or with children, to browse them.
I’m a first year student, is that a disadvantage?
No. In fact first year students from other places than Oslo and Akershus are prioritized in our allocations. Aside from that we allocated on a first come first served basis. Please apply early, this will heighten your chance to get the housing unit you most desire.
May I keep a pet?
No, pets are not allowed.
How are the flats suitable for children allocated?
As a main rule we allocated on the first come first served basis. But single parents and tenants already living with us are prioritized.
Is sublease allowed?
Yes. As a tenant in SiO Housing you may sublease your housing unit. You will find the conditions under 'Resident' in the right hand menu. The application form is found on My Page.

Everyone who owns a TV, radio, VCR with TV reception features must pay a broadkasting license to NRK. Contact NRK for more information
Where do I recieve the keys to my flat?
It depends on which student residence you are moving in to. Find your SiO Centre.
